From Plant to Product: The Journey of Rosinol

The Lab

At Main Street Health (MSH), we are dedicated to advancing the medical cannabis industry by developing innovative products that cater to the diverse needs of patients. One of our most groundbreaking creations is Rosinol – a highly customizable and cost-effective cannabis concentrate. In this blog post, we will take you on a journey through the creation of Rosinol – from its origins as a raw cannabis plant to the final, patient-ready product – and into the future.

The Genesis of Rosinol

Rosinol was born out of the need to address the challenges faced by standalone processors who do not have vertically-integrated operations. While our ethanol extraction process was fantastic for generating high-quality distillate rapidly, safely, responsibly, and in significant volumes, it was not ideal for making concentrates of high quality. Further, without a cultivation of our own, we could not guarantee the characteristics or consistency of the inputs used to create these concentrates. This also limited our reliance on solventless methods, as consistent quality of inputs plays a significant part in the outputs.

Main Street scientists began to romanticize the concept of breaking down our ethanol extract into its constituent parts, then reintroducing only the parts we want. After months of experimentation, and with many of the concepts already having been pioneered by Tony Verzura of Blue River Terps in his Flan there to guide the way, Rosinol was born.

According to Larry, a critical member of the MSH science team, “Rosinol is about as good an ethanol concentrate as there is. It was designed to be put together like a fine recipe; combining the best parts of the plant.” This meticulous process involves extracting cannabinoids and other compounds, separating THCA crystals from that extract by mechanical means, and then recombining them to create an enticing blend of potency, flavor, and consistency.

The Potential of Rosinol

What sets Rosinol apart from other concentrates is its customization potential. By breaking the cannabis extract down to its various parts, and identifying which of those parts will be valuable and which should be removed, we have the ability to construct a concentrate that enhances the positives of an extract, while shedding what’s not ideal. The medical value of the product can also be enhanced further by the introduction of individual cannabinoids and compounds that were not present in the source plant material.

This level of personalization is revolutionary. Rosinol can be tailored for medical needs, such as higher CBD for anti-inflammatory effects or specific terpene combinations for better sleep, as well as for personal preferences in flavor or aroma. For recreational users, Rosinol offers the flexibility to enhance creativity, relaxation, euphoria, etc. by adjusting the cannabinoid and terpene profiles.

Cost-Effectiveness and Quality

One of the major advantages of Rosinol is its cost-effectiveness. Traditional Rosin has a production yield of only 1-3%, whereas Rosinol boasts an impressive 10-15% yield. This not only benefits producers but also makes high-quality cannabis products more affordable for consumers. Despite the economical production process, Rosinol does not compromise on quality. The ethanol extraction and solventless/mechanical post-processing ensures a clean burn, making it suitable for high-end devices and leaving minimal residue.

Addressing Skepticism

As with any new product, Rosinol has faced skepticism – particularly regarding the use of ethanol extraction. Some consumers and industry insiders have concerns about ethanol extraction producing lower-quality extracts, and those concerns are understandable. Traditional ethanol-extracted concentrates, such as crumble or shatter, can be lackluster. Our Rosinol process significantly mitigates the issues found in other ethanol-extracted concentrates. Our rigorous standards ensure that Rosinol is both safe and of the highest quality.

Josh, the scientist chiefly responsible for Rosinol, emphasizes, “If you hold up Rosinol and rosin side by side, you can’t tell the difference. It’s similar quality at a lower price point.” This statement encapsulates the essence of Rosinol – a premium product that is accessible and affordable for all. Rosinol doesn’t claim to be rosin – the quality and purity of good rosin is hard to beat – but it does claim to provide a product of similar qualities for a more approachable price point for patients and for producers.

The Future of Cannabis Customization

Looking ahead, the potential for further customization of Rosinol is immense. As research in cannabis science progresses, we foresee the ability to break down cannabis extracts into even more precise components. This will allow for the creation of highly specialized products tailored to the unique needs of each patient.

For instance, as we learn more about the interactions between different cannabinoids and terpenes, we could develop formulations that target specific medical conditions with unprecedented precision. Imagine a future where patients can receive a personalized cannabis concentrate that is formulated based on their genetic profile, medical history, and specific therapeutic needs. This level of customization could lead to more effective treatments with fewer side effects, revolutionizing the way we approach cannabis-based medicine. MSH is committed to staying at the forefront of this innovation, continuously improving our processes and products to better serve Ohio’s patients.

Rosinol represents the future of cannabis concentrates. Its ability to be customized to meet specific medical and recreational needs, combined with its cost-effectiveness and high quality, make it a game-changer in the industry. As we learn more about the individual cannabinoids and other compounds found in cannabis, we imagine that the levels of Rosinol’s customization will only increase. At Main Street Health, we are committed to continuing our tradition of innovation and excellence, ensuring that Ohio’s patients have access to the best possible cannabis-based products.
